New wax outta Germany from a label called Terpsiton. I won't say new label as they have been around (from what i gathered from research) since 2009, Discogs says the first release was on 2010. Still it's a fresh label in it's beginning years.
Most of the rest of the catalog so far is a blend of Deep House and Minimal Techno, it's fine, but as you all know the lyrics: "In my house, there is ONLY House music". I may here and there post a Tech House record or Techno record but because i feel such track fits the vibe and feel of what Dahousehead stands for.
But in comes The Scene, duo made up of Tim Schumacher and Aaron David. Together they come up with this masterful blend of melodies, vocal cuts, thumping kicks and hihat shuffles, wrapped up in a Deep House groove. Track 3, 'Lab', which features Franz B. Werner as well, is the standout track of the EP. Top notch and 10/10.
Out now on Inland Knights' Drop Music, 'Vintage Vol. 4' is just that vintage trademark Inland Knights house. If you were smart enough to get the last installment of Vintage series, then im sure you were captivated by Toka Project's 'Give Me My Soul'. 5/5 stars. This time they go big again. Tracks like 'Too Much', 'Sometimes', and 'The Game' will be worth the price.
Jordan Peak, now that's a name that's synonymous with good House music. His latest EP has me thinking that my last statement is 100% deserving. 'Club Cuts' is an amazing effort in well, great 'Club Cuts'. He truly does deliver once again. Favorite track has to be 'It's A Groove Thing', a touch of Jackin House with a slower tempo over a deep pulsating bassline. Robsoul Recordings is hitting for the fences gentlemen!
If you've been following this blog then you know about My Love Is Underground. No need for any further intro, if not, then act like you know.
According to the main man, Jeremy 'Underground Paris', the next release will be the ultra-super-secret-exclusive-limited-rare-special-covered-in-chocolate-fudge release of 4 artists all packed into a vinyl. 3 Deep house tracks and one Techno-esque track that has my number one vote for dopest Techno track of the year.
Only way of getting this is via Discogs. So get your account, be sure to own a Paypal account as well, and get there early because this comes out JANUARY 15! 190 COPIES ONLY! 1 PER CUSTOMER! and pray to God Jeremy doesn't catch you trying to resale it, as he made it clear that anyone caught doing that is going to get the full force of the Underground Militia (via his Facebook).
*EDIT* Jan. 13. * If you have been following this release then you know this vinyl hasn't come out yet. Things about the distributor or something. However Jeremy has post on a facebook status around 8am GMT that: Today I sold about 60 copies to make a test - Now keep an eye open on this link on Sunday afternoon from 3pm Paris time http://www.discogs.com/sell/list?q=Various+-+MLIU09&ev=is That's where MLIU09 will be available. En espérant votre compréhension -You see copies for sale but you can't put it in your cart: IT'S NORMAL - There is a delay from when I list a copy and when it becomes available
This means that today being friday, it will be available this sunday, the 15, unless he means next sunday the 22nd. either way. keep an eye out on that link.
So im looking over the DJ Charts in Juno to see what people are playing and i think i was on the chart of Vibes And Pepper Records label head, Bryan, and he had as his #1 for October, this record by Alex Agore called 'Stay Together EP' on his new imprint who is just on their second release, No Matter What. The Title track 'Stay Together' really caught my attention.
So i looked deeper and this guy is a wizard when it comes to Deep House. Out this November on Quintessentials Records, 'Get Away EP' will be a 4 tracker sure to make things happening. Favorite track has to be "Move"
Earlier this year, Alex dropped another EP entitled 'Love Confusion' on Kolour Recordings sublabel, Undertones. Track to watch was the title track, "Love Confusion".
With these strings of releases, i wonder what else this man will wow us with next.
So in line with the rest of the recent French takeover of Classic Garage House. We have a new label on our hands about to repress a MONSTER of an EP that originally came out in '93.
If you were lucky enough to hear this EP back then, you have a leg up on most of us, I can't say that, as only recently through the magic that are mp3s i was able to discover this gem of a 4 track EP.
Back then, Terrence Parker & Claude Young Jr made ears and souls tingle with excitement as The 4 Play E.P. was released on Dow Records, a Detroit House label. Now to give you a perspective of how valuable this record is, the cheapest you can buy this vinyl on Discogs is (at the moment of typing this) $75. That's quite a lot considering it's not even in mint condition.
Here's the great news. Vibes And Pepper Artist Management, an international booking agency, decided to start their own record label. Vibes And Pepper Records, a label which will be VINYL ONLY.
One of their artist signed to them is none other than Terrence Parker, and thus, their first release, VP001, will be a repress of The 4 Play E.P.
Here's an EP that took me by surprise, and while this post talks about this EP, it's ultimately about the SlapFunk Collective.
As usual by now, i was checking out the Facebook page of the record label, My Love Is Underground, and Jeremy (the label owner) had posted a link to a night he had played in. The hosts were a new record label called SlapFunk Records. It was common sense that if this label had invited Jeremy to play, then they would also share in the same style of music as him. Thus my quest for fresh Garage led me to their page.
I was disappointed to find out that their label still had no music out, and that all of their sites except for their home site and Soundcloud, did not work (Facebook lead to the Facebook homepage, and their Twitter was someone elses twitter who spoke spanish and had nothing to do with the label).
Led down, i figured i should at least check the artists page and see if they had other records out. In comes Samuel Deep. Good producer from what i heard from his tracks. On his Soundcloud he features 2 tracks which are solid Garage all the way.
The last clip he had on the Soundcloud was one that was part of an EP on Off Recordings which is the one featured on the title of this post. 4 solid tracks, oozing with Garage vibe.
By the looks of it, this is the beginning of the SlapFunk sound, as i could not find any other record out there with these artists. However this is not the only sounds out there, it may be the only on vinyl, but as i posted above, Samuel Deep has 2 tracks at the moment, though not for free download =(
Firdjel Medar, another part of the SlapFunk Collective has 9 slammin' tracks up in his Soundcloud. My favorites being:
Oh and Anil Aras. Only heard a couple of his tracks but what a genius. 4 tracks (excluding the one on the Street Movement EP) on his Soundcloud. Favorite are:
In closing, if these are the tracks to be released under SlapFunk Records, then expect a new fan from moi, and expect me to continue blogging about them. Another label for the favorites list!
If you have been following me since day 1 of this blog, then you have seen the changes that this blog, and myself have gone through. From starting out merely trying to share a sound that was new to my ears (UK Garage, Garage House, Speed Garage) to upgrading that desire to share this music to the masses by making a forum, to being disillusioned with the whole idea, as it just plain doesn't work.
Long ago, what i wanted to do was to be involved in the scene, be part of the crowd, even make music for the crowd, and bring this sound that i thought so highly of to everyone that wanted to listen to it, and i think i went the way i thought would be most beneficial to the listeners. I just plain wasn't thinking about the authors, the makers of the music. I still think that sharing music is great and can have great effects in the scene. Some methods of sharing are great and fair, like putting a post count on things. It's a matter of who and how you share things with. In any case, i thought things differently for this blog.
Like i said prior, if you've been following me since day one you will have noticed that lately i've been posting EP's and things that don't really have a download link, but still promote the cause. That's where this is going. From today forward, this blog will be strictly that. This way i can post whatever i want and not have people claiming i'm ripping off the artists, etc, anyway who doesn't want publicity?!
That being said, i will still try my hardest to find legal, free copies that i can distribute here, and at the least, get audio clips via youtube or vendor site's audio players. Not only that, but if you are really hurt that im not going to be sharing music anymore consider this. Mostly everything i got, mostly everything i have shared and will promote here in the future, was and will be online, i can guarantee you that. It's all about knowing where and how to search for those files. Can't get upset at me for telling the truth right?
So in conclusion, there's more posts for Dahousehead Blog. just stay tuned. I promise to bring you the best the world has to offer in terms of House and everything in it. You might see a post of a different genre, but i tell you each post is specially curated to contain %100 fresh beats.
Rolling along with new cuts from Bridgeport, Connecticut (USA), the guys at Underground Quality have on their hands a fresh new release from the man Ben Micklewright aka BLM. Deep House to the fullest degree here folks. While 2 of the tracks are ok in my opinion, with "Hard Feeling (Live)" being the weaker of the 2, the other 2 stand out and shine brighter than sunlight. "People" fuses some garage shuffle with deep atmospheres to give an exquisite blend of grooves. "Delharmonic" goes ever more in depth, taking the listener to a dream within a dream of subtle but effective calming and entrancing repetition.
This release has had my attention for a while now. Jordan Peak, along with Saved Records have made something to bounce to with this EP. Every beat here has the right amount of garage/jackin swing with a party tech house vibe. Top notch.
Usually i don't go for one track on an EP, but this one HAS to be mentioned. It seems like anything with the label My Love Is Underground affixed to it is turning gold.
While this release is not released on their label (it's on Balance Alliance France), the track "GSM's Life (MLIU Dub)" has the MLIU acronym and so it's worth to mention it. A smasher of a tune. **UPDATE** was able to get a copy of it on Juno. boy those guys really come through! =D
If you see a copy, GET IT! worth the money, as not only is this track a total garage choon, but the rest of the songs hold up quite well as deep house gems.
Madhouse Records is back with another EP. This time it's producer Tony Lionni who is at the helms of the buttons and manufactures a Techno fused Deep House 4 track wax worthy of being placed in between releases of such iconic label.
Be sure to check out Traxsource for the release. For now you can get your fix (in many ways) by listening to the full streams at Soundcloud. Release date on this is: April 25, 2011
This is a HUGErelease for all the US Garage fans, and most important Kerri Chandler Madhouse nutters (like me).
Champion Records just released a digital compilation of Kerri's remixes from his entire career. What makes this such a special release is that it contains some white label tracks that have never before been available in digital format. In their own words: Champion Records proudly presents a very special collection of remixes by the legendary Kerri Chandler. We’ve gone back through the archives and collated all the remixes the Madhouse main man has done throughout our 30 year history, and includes his versions of rare and lost tracks as well as club classics.
Many of the tracks included have previously only been released on DJ-only white label promo vinyl and never commercially released on any format (see Kristine W’s “Don’t Wanna Think”), while others are included for their sheer classic status (Robin S, Sandy B, Kristine W Remixes for example). Over 70% of the tracks here have never been released digitally before now.
Released by: Champion Records Ltd Release date: Apr 11, 2011
Not been here for a while, because well just didn't feel like it. Many things have happened since my last post. I'm no longer in charge of Dahousehead.org as it was too much for me to handle. Didn't think being an admin and owner would be too much to deal with, but it was. People online can behave worse than kids..
Anyway, i'm excited about this entry because i get to talk about a record label that has got my full undivided attention. The Parisian record label (and i mean record as they are STRICTLY vinyl) 'My Love Is Underground' has for the past few months been putting out a rebirth of the 'classic' NJ/NY Garage House sound. By this i mean that early 90's House sound hammered by the likes of Tony Humphries at the Zanzibar, etc. It gives me so much joy to know that this sound has been brought back from the underground to resurface in no other than France. (can a mid-nineties French House Golden Era be back again?)
When i heard of the first 2 releases i was blown away, even more so when i found out that the artist that made the second release, Paris Underground Trax was actually Izmo, from the much celebrated 'Where Is Eddie? EP' on 9Ts Records. I immediately sought out my favorite place to shop online, Juno, and bought their latest release: Jerzzey Boy's Lost Cuts Pt.1
I wonder however where is MLIU05? The Facebook page shows a link labeled as "Kool Vibe EP MLIU05", but that redirects to the Kool Vibe - Catchin' The Vibe E.P., which is labeled on the Soundcloud page as the 4th release (MLIU04). Hope this gets cleared up. Until then, i plan to get the next 2 releases and if the forthcoming releases are as great as these, then im sold until they make no more (which i hope never happens).
***UPDATE*** MLIU05 will be the never to be repressed, 7'' exclusive that will be given out at the label's first night in London on May 13th. Quoted from their Soundcloud:
Special limited 7inch release for sale at the label party in London!
MLIU05 Kool Vibe - Deep Inside (Brawther's 7inch Of Dub Edit) Produced by Kool Vibe, Edits by Brawther Single sided handwritten 7inch, 150 copies - No repress.
And to answer the question of, will this be available to non-party goers? Brawther answered that in the comments section:
"This record will be sold exclusively at the label party in london... It will be one record per person... No speculators will be tolerated... If there are available copies after the party, we will then make an announcement and sell these direct... Don't sleep :)"
